Senator Dianne Feinstein on the forefront with Democrats for another “Assault Weapons” Ban
Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) introduced the 2019 Assault Weapons Ban “to ban the sale, transfer, manufacture, and importation of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines,”
Some 205 gun models by name would be outlawed outright and the proposal would define an “assault weapon” as a “semi-automatic with a detachable magazine that included one of a list of cosmetic features that are deemed military characteristics such as a threaded barrel, pistol grip or folding stock”.
Also, federal law would be amended to ban adjustable stocks, Thordsen-style stocks, assault pistols that weight more than fifty ounces (whatever the hell that matters), and pistol braces. Detachable magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds would be prohibited from transfer and guns grandfathered when the ban takes effect would be required to be locked up when not in use. Mandatory background checks for future sale or giving away of grandfathered guns, even between two private citizens.
Feinstein said “Americans across the nation are asking Congress to reinstate the federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” “If we’re going to put a stop to mass shootings and protect our children, we need to get these weapons of war off our streets.”
Sen. Chris Murphy being equally ignorant
“Military style assault rifles are the weapons of choice for mass murderers,” “There’s just no reason why these guns, which were designed to kill as many people as quickly as possible, are sold to the public.”
Now we all know the Clinton era “assault weapon” ban from 1994-2004 had zero effect on crime and that ban was nowhere near as comprehensive as this. The whole “90% is Americans support universal background checks” has been proven over and over again to be fake news so I am not sure where the data is being generated but this is a clear violation of the Second Amendment. We have seen on the recent the NRA cannot be totally relied on to protect our rights but not fighting against the bump stock ban so we as gun owners need to stick together and protect our freedoms. Call, write, email, and make our voices heard.
