New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli sent word to many of the US’s largest banks, implying if they continue to host firearm related transactions, it could jeopardize their bottom line. It was suggested firearm related transactions, should be reclassified as high risk purchases similar to that of pornography. DiNapoli has control over a couple of billion in NY state pensions, alluded to these banks risk losing NY’s business if they continue work with firearm related companies. In my opinion, this is no different than old fashioned blackmail.
This act by DiNapoli shows the great lengths liberals will go to in order to chip away our rights. If they cannot ban guns outright, as Lord knows they have tried, then they will use shady backdoor techniques to whittle away at the Second Amendment, and this is beyond shameful. I cannot figure out how this is not illegal.
One of my largest ammunition supporters, Hornady, has recognized this to influence banks and credit cards away from the firearm industry and has made quite the stand, risking sales to stand behind its customers and principals. Hornady has terminated any and all business with New York’s law enforcement.
“Today, the State of New York did one of the most despicable acts ever perpetrated by any state by asking New York banks, financial institutions and insurance companies to stop doing business with the gun and ammo industry. While it may not make a difference to New York, Hornady will not knowingly allow our ammunition to be sold to the Government of the State of NY or any NY agencies. Their actions are a blatant and disgusting abuse of office and we won’t be associated with a government that acts like that. They should be ashamed.”
-Steve Hornady, president of Hornady Manufacturing Company

What does this mean? In my opinion, it is far more than just a gesture from Hornady, as Hornady makes some of the more reliable high performance ammunition that is used by law enforcement. As a matter of fact, the FBI just adopted Hornady ammunition for training and department issue ammunition. Which is a large feather in Hornady’s cap and shows how much law enforcement is paying attention to what the market offers. This could also be a harbinger of things to come if other manufacturers follow suit. Such a large message could force states such as New York that take aim against our rights to reconsider meddling in matters they have no business in.
