It was about four months ago I published a review of the CZ 455 Varmint Taticool rifle, and you can read that review by following this link. A couple of months ago the integrally suppressed barrel for the 455 Varmint Taticool rifle arrived for review.
The factory barrel is held into the receiver via two set screws. After removing the stock, remove the screws, and swap out the barrels. The whole swap out is simple and straightforward following the instructions in the manual.
The 7075 aluminum baffles are threaded directly into the barrel, which are removed and installed via a tool CZ sends with the barrel.
The tool is marked with suggestions on the depth the baffles should be threaded but you are free to experiment with the depths if so inclined.
The tool indexes into the end cap and each baffle for ease of removal. CZ recommends to clean the silencer every 300 rounds or so but if you are like me and a bit neglectful the baffles are cut similar to a tap to make removal a bit easier. As you remove them they will cut the carbon out of the way. I went about 600 rounds without cleaning and did have to use a wrench on the last baffle but it did indeed cut the carbon out of the way as it was threaded out.
We took the 455 with the ISB out to a 100 yards to see how it faired against the factory barrel, and with the same ammunition, accuracy was comparable. The ISB is capable of MOA accuracy with quality .22 Long Rifle ammunition.
The fun really started with shooting steel about 50 yards with subsonic ammunition. While serving as excellent training without all the noise pollution it was the enjoyment of quiet plinking that sold me on this setup.
With the integrally suppressed barrel, you have the benefit of suppressing the report but not broadcasting you have a NFA item. So if you like to “fly under the radar” so to speak the ISB from CZ is a viable option without sacrificing accuracy. Noise suppression with subsonic ammunition was on par or better than a stand alone silencer, with measuring sixty eight decibels to the ear of the entire pressure wave. That is not peak noise but a representative of what you can expect to hear. Another benifit of the ISB set up is with the silencer being integrated to the bore, you don’t have a chance of misalignment as you would with a thread on or QD mount can. That can lessen your chance of a baffle strike.

I am very interested in ordering a CZ integrally suppressed factory barrel. I already own a couple different suppressors. I would like to know your honest opinion about sound and quality of the CZ factory integrally suppressed barrel before i am out the money for the tax stamp and barrel.

Jason, the quality and suppression levels are excellent. I truly liked the integrally suppressed barrel however you have to keep in mind it is a one trick pony. It works great but only one the one rifle it was designed for. As you know a stand alone silencer can be swapped back and forth. I do see the benefit of the ISB as being part of the rifle, so to speak.
Thank you for the response. I just like the idea of the overall length being 16.5 instead of my current set up 16.5 with a 7″ suppressor on the end of that for an overall 23.5. Would you say it is quieter than a stand alone suppressor?
