Pelican Vault V800 Review: A year of real world use.

We can probably agree that most rifle cases leave a lot to be desired. If you want good quality, you have to pay for it. Well, if you are looking for a high-quality rifle case but on a budget, I would direct your attention to the Pelican V800  

After a year or so of use, I can tell you it has held up extremely well.

The foam layout was easy to work with and provided enough compression to keep your gear secure.

It has six push-button ABS latches, four reinforced hinges, and four eyelets for large padlocks. The molded handles are comfortable enough.

At the top, you have another smaller handle, and at the bottom, another handle and a set of hard plastic wheels that make lugging this case through the airport much easier. Bear in mind that once loaded, it can be heavy and a bit awkward, but that is just the nature of large secure rifle cases.

Conclusions 

After a year of use, I am completely satisfied with the V800. I have been using Pelican cases for years for video/photo gear, so I have high expectations for quality, and the V800 did not disappoint. If you don’t like OD Green, it’s also available in black, grey, and FDE, and as a single rifle case.  Pelican offers military first-responder discounts, as well as other discounts and sales. It is a far cry from your budget or cheap rifle cases. Now, cheap rifle cases may serve you just fine for the occasional range trip, but when traveling, you are going to want far more robust protection, and this is exactly what Pelican is known for.
