I met with some of the engineers behind the new Colt flashlights and weapon mounted lights at this past SHOT show. After some conversation and education of the Colt lights we discussed an in depth review. It was not long after that I received three models for review.

For the past three months I have used and abused all three examples and they have held up very well. These flashlights are certainly duty rated, being shock resistant and waterproof. The Peacemaker will cut the dark using 1200 lumens generated by a single computer controlled LED. The Judge is a more compact model, still producing 800 lumens, that would be better suited for more discreet carry or when space and weight is a premium. The Microtac Predator is a small compact weapon mounted light, conveniently running on a single AA battery. The light includes two lens assemblies, white and green LEDs to add a bit of versatility to the light system depending on your needs.

Microtact Predator PGS 200AA

Maybe not exactly what the PGS 200AA was designed for but with the slight offset it mounted to the top rail of the Ruger Mk IV .22 pistol still allowing to use the Redfield Accelerator red dot. This made for a lot of fun shooting steel at thirty yards in the dark.

You can see the secure spring loaded mount that work equally well with Picatinny  and Weaver rails.  Once snugged with a flat screwdriver the light held fast using several AR-15s and the Ruger MK IV 22/45.

To conclude, these are high quality lights, affordable lights that are well suited for duty and personal defense. I am satisfied these lights are exactly as the manufacture claims and will provide years of trouble free use.

I spent much of my youth involved with firearms and felt the call early on to the United States Marine Corps, following in my father's and his brother's footsteps. Just after high school I enlisted and felt most at home on the rifle range, where I qualified expert with several firearms and spent some time as a rifle coach to my fellow Marines. After being honorably discharged I continued teaching firearm safety, rifle and pistol marksmanship, and began teaching metallic cartridge reloading. In the late 1990s I became a life member to the National Rifle Association and worked with the Friends of the NRA. Around that time my father and I became involved with IDPA and competed together up until he passed away. I began reviewing firearms for publications in the mid 2000s and have been fortunate to make many friends in the industry. Continuing to improve my firearms skills and knowledge is a never ending journey in which we should all be committed. I am also credited as weapons master on a few independent films.

  1. Hunter,
My name is Terrence Peck. I thought your reveiw was great. I bought a Colt AMRAM 1200 PeaceMaker. It is, or was, a great flashlight.
However the high/low/strobe button seems to have gone south. Can you advise me where to send it to get repaired. And if so is there any
    warranty on it.
    Thanks for your help…….Tj
