About three years ago I reviewed the Hi-Point 9mm carbine and pistol, and you can see that review by following this link. The test samples performed well without issue but the biggest complaint was capacity as the factory magazine for the carbine was limited to ten rounds. Redball Sports introduced a single stack twenty round magazine for the carbine. There was a lot of good reviews that were coming forth from customers but I figured it would be worth seeing for myself. After a quick call to MKS Supply I secured another 995TS carbine and a few Redball twenty round magazines to test.
Initial Impressions
This test sample shipped with the optional vertical foregrip that collapses with the push of the locking button. As you can see the Redball magazine sticks below the pistol grip right much but this did not affect reliability of the gun.
The trigger broke at six pounds with some take up and plenty of overtravel for follow through. The safety is located just above the ergonomic pistol grip. Just above that is the charging handle.
Weaver rails located under the barrel, under the handguard, and about half way down the top of the receiver.
The front sight is a blade type and is well protected.
The rear sight is a peep design that is adjustable for elevation and windage.

Conclusions
After about 350 rounds downrange using ball and defensive rounds there were no malfunctions. Through majority of the review we ran the Redball twenty round magazines, but we also ran the factory ten round mags enough to verify reliability with all magazines. Though many a gun snob will turn up their nose at a Hi-Point, I have reviewed Hi-Point pistols and carbines in 9mm Luger and .45 Auto as well as the carbine in .380 Auto and all have been 100% reliable. With that in mind they are made in America, have a lifetime warranty, and are inexpensive so in my mind that makes them worth considering, especially if you are on a tight budget. Everyone has the right to protect themselves and if that single mom or college student can’t scrape together $800 for an AR Hi-Point gives them a viable option for a carbine that will get the job done. If you scoff at the mention of Hi-Point firearms, find someone that has one and run a few magazines through it and try to see that firearm through their eyes and what it means to them. Keep an open mind as legal and responsible gun owners must stick together as we are all in this together. So don’t let the price tag of a firearm divide us as a group.

The Redball 4595 20 round mags are still being tested. From what I heard they are a double stack that squishes down to a single stack. I hate to admit it. I have 4 of the 9’s, 4 40’s, and 2 45’s.

The redball mags work great with the Highpoint 995ts and clssic. no malfunctions just got to keep it well-oiled and use good ammunition now another great selling point is there warranty I called them because a plastic piece fell off of one of my mags they replace the plastic piece and gave me a new mag worth $25 within 2 days now beat that customer service awesome job redball I’ll be making a YouTube video soon of me at the range all red balls Call Me 7278314822
I bought the Hi-Point 20 round clip. I am not sure if you load the clip all from the same end? I don’t want to force too many rounds in. Does the 20 rounds all go in the same end?
The magazine loads all through the top as with any other magazine.
