So, if you have watched some videos on youtube, about what to do with your Glocks, I am sure that many of ya’ll have seen the plugs for XS Big Dot sights. Now Ill admit, I have been a traditional 3 dot sight kinda guy for while, but as I get older I noticed my eyes not taking to 3 dots anymore. So, after some searching with no luck, I decided to contact XS, to see if they had even just 1 set of sights in stock, as there were back-ordered everywhere else. They graciously sent over a set of their 24/7 sights for the Glock 19.
Installation was very simple, although I will admit, it was weird to install the rear sight by hand without a drift punch, or sight tool. I was skeptical about the supplied locktite being the primary item holding the sight into place. Well, it held up better than I expected. I loved the fact that these sights had almost all edges rounded, which means concealed carry was taken into account when designing these sights. They are also low profile, well, at least the rear sight, which again plays into the concealed carry aspect. The down side to low profile, is when needing to use the rear sight to rack your slide. It can be done, just takes a bit more extra practice.
Now for the best part about this review was shooting the gun and getting extra range time to see how these sights worked for me. I must admit, it was a great excuse to get away from the girl for a couple hours…..until you realize she loves guns just as much as you do, and then the range time turns into her shooting the gun for you. Which actually worked out well seeing as her eyes took to the sights and mine well, yea, lets just say the 19 is hers now. My eyes would not take to the sights to save my life, and well, that is something that happens. Some people cannot use the sights that others may use. I will also say that out of everyone at the range, 90% of people who used the 19, were able to punch hole after hole in the same spot. All in all, these sights were a success, and with time I am getting better with these sights, but that is a slow process.
In theory good sights. But, they don’t stand by their product. I bought a pair for my CZ RAMI. When sighted as they suggest, the pistol shot 7 inches low at 7 yards. Contacted them and of course is user error. Gave me the standard run around. Did research and found several examples of the same situation. They ignored the last email stating this.
Shot a Shield w/bigdot sights at the range when customer asked me to verify aim/impact. I had a hard time with them..Not my cup of tea, but they looked to be of good quality.
