American Tactical threaded match barrel for Glock 43

There is not a lot bad to be said about Glock, but there are some changes that can be made to make the pistol a bit more versatile. It is not recommended to shoot lead bullets through factory Glock barrels, and if you wanted to add a silencer to your Glock 43, well your options are limited. Introducing the American Tactical threaded barrel for the Glock 43. Now I totally understand the Glock 43 is a concealed carry pistol and no one would add a silencer to their carry gun. With that said, if you already had a pistol silencer and wanted to run it on your carry gun you now have an option. If you wanted to have an aftermarket barrel to shoot lead through, why not buy a threaded barrel?

The barrel dropped in without trouble and ran fine without any modifications.

Though the 9mm Luger does not run the ragged edge on pressure like the 10mm Auto the case head support was similar to the factory Glock barrel.

The Glock 43 ran well with or without the silencer threaded on. For the review I was using the AAC Illusion silencer, and you can read that review by following this link.  We shot just over 100 rounds through the aftermarket barrel and there were no feeding issues. Here you can see Tyler putting rounds down range with the test pistol.

Glock 43 accuracy

Though the Glock 43 is by no means match grade accuracy, it is plenty accurate for it’s job. With the addition of the American Tactical barrel you do gain some accuracy from the small pistol and as best I can tell not sacrificing any reliability.

Conclusions

I would wholeheartedly agree the Glock 43 is not an ideal silencer host because it was designed as a small carry pistol, so that begs the question of why add a threaded barrel. The primary reason I change any Glock barrel is to be able safely shoot lead bullets. That will for sure cut down on ammunition costs, but if you are going to add an aftermarket barrel why not go with a threaded barrel, especially if you already have a silencer. Squeezing a bit of accuracy out of your pistol is just icing on the cake.

I spent much of my youth involved with firearms and felt the call early on to the United States Marine Corps, following in my father's and his brother's footsteps. Just after high school I enlisted and felt most at home on the rifle range, where I qualified expert with several firearms and spent some time as a rifle coach to my fellow Marines. After being honorably discharged I continued teaching firearm safety, rifle and pistol marksmanship, and began teaching metallic cartridge reloading. In the late 1990s I became a life member to the National Rifle Association and worked with the Friends of the NRA. Around that time my father and I became involved with IDPA and competed together up until he passed away. I began reviewing firearms for publications in the mid 2000s and have been fortunate to make many friends in the industry. Continuing to improve my firearms skills and knowledge is a never ending journey in which we should all be committed. I am also credited as weapons master on a few independent films.
